Obama’s Card Trick

By now, this is a well orchestrated show, and Senator Obama, a superbly trained magician. Jacksonville, Florida was most recently graced with Senator Obama’s now famous performances.

The Times reports:

“The choice is clear. Most of all we can choose between hope and fear. It is going to be very difficult for Republicans to run on their stewardship of the economy or their outstanding foreign policy. We know what kind of campaign they’re going to run. They’re going to try to make you afraid. They’re going to try to make you afraid of me. He’s young and inexperienced and he’s got a funny name. And did I mention he’s black?

He’s got a feisty wife.”

(big cheer).

“We know the strategy because they’ve already shown their cards. Ultimately I think the American people recognize that old stuff hasn’t moved us forward. That old stuff just divides us.”

Did ya miss it?  You have to be quick to notice what the magician doesn’t want you to see. It’s a wonderful game of misdirection.

The Setup: Senator Obama, being the skilled magician he his, begins to speak in generalities about the choices we will make in the General Election, as he presents the Republican’s deck of cards. He lays five cards, face up, on the table: national security, the economy, foreign policy, experience, and  patriotism.   Then, he pokes a little fun at his opponents. Now you’re laughing a bit.

The Misdirection: Senator Obama pivots suddenly, pointing a finger at the Republicans, represented by his beautiful assistant, dressed in red. He instructs her to pick up the five cards, while he tells us artfully what “they” are going to do.

The Reveal: Senator Obama then instructs his assistant to reveal the cards she is now holding to the audience. Senator Obama informs us that the cards we see before us have taken on a new form. Looking a little closer, the audience realizes all five cards are now race cards. The assistant runs from the stage shocked and embarrassed while the audience rises and applauds. Wearing his cloak of unity, and crown of new politics, Senator Obama takes a bow, and exits stage left.

How did he do it, you ask?  It’s all just sleight of hand. You see, the race cards were in Senator Obama’s pocket all along, slipped to the assistant at just the right time.

While it is a brilliant and effective trick, it is not the act of a leader. While the deception will garner much media attention and adoration, it is not the act of a unifier. While the deceit will rouse the crowd, it is not the act of a post-partisan, much less a transcendent, and post-racial figure.

Senator Obama’s divisive tactics, are destructive to the very fiber of America. Yes, our country has a sorted and sad history regarding race relations, yet we have been working for decades, if not centuries, to move forward. Senator Obama is quick to don the mantle of great and influential leaders such as MLK Jr., JFK and RFK, yet he attempts to deflect legitimate and necessary criticism by claiming victimhood while bludgeoning his opponents with the crutch of racism, consequently disgracing the memories and curtailing the efforts of the men he is so desperate to emulate.

Lieutenant Colonel Allen West, candidate for Congress in Florida’s 22 District, in the clearest and most respectful way possible, requests Senator Obama end the charade

“My advice to Senator Obama is to run as a Man and Leader, and the American people will evaluate you as such, not as a victim. This is a Presidential race, based solely on a capacity to lead the United States of America. It is not about skin tone…however, perhaps we should come to expect these immature statements.

It also seems rather humorous that the Presidential candidate who was supposed to be such a “uniter” and transcend race is the one talking about it the most. If Senator Obama was confident in his abilities and character, he would not need to create a crutch for failure. Senator Obama has just tipped his hand, any criticism of him and his policies will be directly attributed to racism. I congratulate Senator Obama for taking race relations in America back some 30 years.” Lt. Col Allen West

Many agree with him Senator Obama. For our sake, yours, and for our country, please retire your card trick.

  1. I am depressed to see people I thought were pro civil rights, pro earth and anti war go to the Obama camp. He is the opposite of all they hold dear, and little more than a handsome, smooth talking snake oil salesman.
He’s not worse than other politicians, he’s the perfect one. He gets millions in special interest dollars that change his stances, yet he’s really for the common people. He’s just too smart, where people that used to rely on their gut are supressing their doubts. He’s too smooth for words, and it makes me sick to see good people destroy the enviornment, civil rights, and peace in his name.

  2. Stop Obama and CKA, you two are correct.

It’s absolutely sad how the media and the people have allowed themselves to be duped into this facade.

The race baiting was also where he lost my vote. It’s the lowest of low tactics.

  3. I will not, as the colonel said, “congratulate” Obama for reversing race relations decades.

Of course, I know what the colonel meant.

But, especially in this debacle that the Democrat primary procss has become and the spillover into O-vs.-Mc., the more any of us can say what we mean directly and clearly, the more we defeat Obama’s war on the English language, the meaning of words, how they’re used.

That said, I’d add that Obama plus his so-called “spiritual” mentors Pfelger and Wright, as well as Mrs. Obama, are among the coalition–including the mainstream news media–who’ve damaged race relations.

And they’ve demonstrated how utterly despicable and execrable victimology and entitlement in the black community have become.

  4. The day that Obama played the race card against the Clintons was the day he lost any chance of ever getting my vote. As Lt. Col. West said,
“I congratulate Senator Obama for taking race relations in America back some 30 years.”
And how very right he is but the sad thing about this is, who will be left to pick up the pieces? Or does Obama even care?

  5. Thanks so much for your comment, Swannie.

Lt. Col West does an amazing job of responding to Obama. I hope this is the line the Republicans take. BO cannot be allowed to blatantly race bate in this manner.

He’s not yet the official nominee, no votes have been tallied and he’s already blaming racism for his loss. It’s really getting old.

  6. This is a very clear and insightful and mature response to the use of racism by Obama , as he has used it all along in this campaign . I am extremely glad he used the word TONE because that seems to be the new not so subtle implication of racism as used by Donna Brazile “For him to go after Obama using ‘fairy tale,’ calling him a ‘kid,’ as he did last week, it’s an insult. And I tell you, as an African-American, I find his words and his tone to be very depressing.”
and against the Clintons; and Michelle Obama when asked if she would have supported Hillary if she won with her now infamous I would have to think about that and added “I have to think about her policies, her approach, her tone” .
I am not afraid of being called a racist , anymore than I was afraid of being called an ” N ” Lover when I worked for the civil rights movement and got shot at for doing so . My self worth and self assessment comes from inside not from any implication from anyone else whether they are running for office or not , Keith Olberman implied that all the women that supported Hillary that now are very happy to vote for MCCAIN are racists . Nice try , but it won’t get my respect or my vote . Lieutenant Colonel Allen West, is absolutely correct in his assessment of the obamas as dividers ; THE GREAT DIVIDER as Obama has been called and a well deserved title .His immaturity and lack of thoughfulness in using these methods to attemptt to get elected is but one of the many reason he is not qualified for that high office .
