Liberal Pundit Kirsten Powers Rips Media Non-Coverage of Biden’s Promise that America Faces Crisis Under Obama

Sometimes the liberal media bias is so blatant that even we liberals can’t take it — at least those of us who are reasonable and don’t want Obama to raise taxes and “spread the wealth around” as he told Joe the Plumber.

Today, Kirsten Powers, who is to the left what Ann Coulter is to the right, wrote a scathing article wondering why when Sarah Palin is being caricatured by her left-wing, psuedo-socialist critics as some kind of ditz, no one in the press will report on Biden’s increasing number of gaffes and mistakes.

Most shocking among these — perhaps the most amazing and terrifying campaign gaffe ever — was Biden’s assertion just this past weekend that Obama’s election would prompt an “international crisis” because he is unknown and inexperienced, and America’s enemies would want to test him.

Under normal circumstances, such a boldly stated prediction of doom and gloom from the frontrunning candidate’s running mate himself would be front-page news for a week.

But for some reason the media has barely touched on this, preferring to wonder about the costs of Sarah Palin’s wardrobe.

Hmmm…which is more newsworthy? How much it costs to dress Sarah Palin, or the possibility that America could elect a President so green that he invites attack — and even his running mate thinks so.

Powers writes in part:

Barack Obama’s choice of Joe Biden as his running mate prompted a small wave of warnings about Biden’s propensity for gaffes. But no one imagined even in a worse-case scenario such a spectacular bomb as telling donors…Obama will be tested by an international crisis…

Scary? You betcha! But somehow, not front-page news.

Again the media showed their incredible bias by giving scattered coverage of Biden’s statements…

…when Biden asserted incorrectly in the vice-presidential debate that the United States “drove Hezbollah out of Lebanon,” nobody in the US media shrieked. (It was, however, covered with derision in the Middle East.) Or when he confused his history by claiming FDR calmed the nation during the Depression by going on TV, the press didn’t take it as evidence that he’s clueless…

The outakes of his Sunday remarks don’t begin to capture the magnitude of what he said…Obama’s election would provoke an international incident because of his inexperience and even Obama’s biggest supporters won’t be reassured by his response…

Biden is teling us that, at a time when Americans need to feel confidence in their government, they will be going “Oh my God.” Not a great message.

Needless to say, if Sarah Palin said this about a McCain administration, the media world would be exploding…the double standard in the media does even more damage to their lagging brand.

Part of the problem is their “Obama love,” but we’re also seeing the media elite’s belief – prejudice – that anyone with an R behind their name is dumb. So, if they say something dumb, they must be dumb. A Democrat, like Biden, can make wildly inaccurate or outrageous comments and they are ignored…

On the stump recently, Sen. Biden declared he had “three words” for what the nation needs: “J-O-B-S.”

Lucky for him, his name isn’t Dan Quayle, or that would have followed him for the rest of his career.

She is dead on.

Biden’s pronouncement that Obama will invite a crisis that he will then botch is frightening. Why should voters elect an international crisis?

  1. The only reason I watch MSM and follow politics in general is for the comedy of MSM pretending to be neutral or unbiased. NBC, ABC, CBS, CNN are so far in the tank for Obama that they can’t even see the top. MSNBC with the idiot Olbermann is to news what LSD is to reality.

  2. I have been a Democrat since I registered to vote almost 30 years ago, but I have grave concerns about electing Obama with such a large Democratic majority in Congress. I am very afraid of what they might ram through without anybody to even slow them down. Plus I am so sick of other Democrats bringing up Roe v Wade everytime McCain’s name is mentioned. Believe me, if McCain could get a far-right justice confirmed to the Supreme Court with the Democratic majority we will have after Nov, then he’s better at “reaching across the aisle” than even he says he is.

  3. Vote McCain/Palin 2008!

Send a message to Hollywood that the White House is not for sale!

Send a message to the MSM that they have lost all credibility!

    Vote McCain/Palin 2008!

  4. DONE,

I hate to tell you, but the Republican part is the party
of the elite. It’s also becoming the anti-American party that hates everyone that’s not as crazy as they are. I voted for Nixon, Reagan, and the first Bush, and consider myself more right than left, but there is no way I want to support where the party is now. Obama is too far left for me, but I think he will do a better job than McCain and the idiot Palin.
Then I feel sorry for you if you will vote for a socialist who wants to “spread the wealth around” and whose election even his veep admits will spark an “international crisis.” You would rather America have socialism and another crisis than a tested and tried hero like John McCain. Shame on you!

  5. You are so right! The MSM has abdicated its mission to tell the truth to the public. I no longer watch CNN, ABC, NBC, MSNBC, or CBS because I’m sick of their fawning over Obama.

I think the public is getting really fed up with the MSM, as the ratings of all the major networks have all declined.

Thank God for the internet. At least we can find out the truth if we’re willing to do the research. Also I’m a former Democrat who is now watching Fox news for the first time in my life. Fox is the only “fair and balanced” network.

    Thanks for your accurate reporting.

  6. MSKGB’s Keith Olberman and Chris Mathews have been continuing their vicious attacks on Sarah Palin for her knowledge of what the position of v.p. is as outline in our constitution. They just can’t seem to come to grips with the fact that it was Joe Biden, (my first choice in the democratic primary!?!) who was wrong about the position of vice president. There is a reason why Keith Olberman talks so fast. He actually read the article in the constitution that said that the vice president was the president of the senate then went on to attack Palins accurate description of v.p.. Chris Mathews said to Bill Maher (co-women hater) that all Palin had to do was read the consitution to which Maher replied yes but that would require reading. After that Mathews added that Palin could have just watched the HBO series John Adams.
Well Chris, Keith and Bill (Moe Larry and Curly), heres a qoute from John Adams:
“The office of vice president is totally detached from the executive authority and confined to the legislative.” Adams also wrote of the office of president and vice president that the nation has created two officers, one who is the first of two is placed at the head of the executive and the other head of the legislative.
Call MSNBC and tell them to build a padded room for Keith O and Chris. (212) 664-4444
